Digiscoping Techniques - A Practical Field Experience
Presenter: Neil Fifer
Sponsored By Swarovski Optik
Join internationally recognized bird photographer Neil Fifer for this exciting session on digiscoping. Neil has traveled throughout the world to find and photograph birds in their natural environment. See and learn about the equipment required to take photographs through a spotting scope and the techniques used to find and photograph birds in their natural environment with minimal disturbance to their behavior. Neil will discuss how he took his award-winning photo of "Grey Teals at Sunrise," which won the gold medal for nature prints at the 44th Sydney International Exhibition of Photography in 2004. It was the first digiscoped photo to win such an international award. Neil will also discuss his work on the Australian book, The Birds of the Warriewood Wetland and the Irrawong Preserve. The techniques and equipment (some provided by Swarovski Optik) discussed are readily available for the average person to start digiscoping bird photographs without a steep learning curve. Presenter: Ben Lizdas
Sponsored by Eagle Optics
Interested in bird photography? Digiscoping is the latest rage. Learn techniques and advantages of capturing bird images by connecting a digital camera to your spotting scope. Digiscoping offers an extremely effective way for obtaining high quality results at comparatively lower costs versus expensive, fast telephoto lenses. The first hour of the workshop will be an introduction to digiscoping, covering the basics of what you need to get started and how the equipment works. Capturing images out in the field will be the focus of the next three hours. Additionally, Ben will cover tips on how to enhance your pictures digitally with image processing software. Beautiful Birds, Beautiful Music
Presenter: Kevin Doxstater
Natural Visions Photography by Kevin Doxstater
The music of Ludwig van Beethoven provides the backdrop for this multimedia presentation of bird photography by award-winning photographer Kevin Doxstater. The program features nearly 400 images (over 160 species) of North American birds from Florida and the Southeast, New Mexico, California and Alaska. From beautiful portraits to exciting action, each photograph flows smoothly and effortlessly with the music of Beethoven's 6th Symphony (movements 1 and 5) and Overture to Egmont. Constantly being revised and updated, a number of new images have been added for the festival this year (including several from a visit to Alaska this past March).

Beautiful Nature, Beautiful Music
Presenter: Kevin Doxstater
Natural Visions Photography by Kevin Doxstater
Kevin Doxstater's latest multimedia presentation combines the symphonic music of Ludwig van Beethoven with a broader array of nature photography. While the selection of images still favors avian subjects, this all-new presentation includes photographs of mammals, insects and butterflies, spiders, reptiles and amphibians, scenic landscapes and sunrises and sunsets (as well as a few extraterrestrial surprises). Beautiful Nature features over 300 photographs built around music from Beethoven's 6th, 7th, and 8th Symphonies. The presentation has been updated with many new images since last year's festival.

Image Editing for Digital Photographers 101
Presenter: Kevin Doxstater
Natural Visions Photography by Kevin Doxstater
With digital photography there is one undeniable fact: when the day's shooting is over, there is still plenty of work to be done. Many photographers who are new to this exciting new form of photography struggle with learning new software. The programs that are necessary to do the job can be intimidating for first-time users. This seminar is intended to make the transition easier for those who are new to the world of digital photography. Beginning with a thorough introduction to the work areas in Adobe Photoshop® and Adobe Photoshop Elements® (including menus, toolboxes and palettes), the seminar will cover topics such as: how to read and understand histograms, brightness and contrast adjustments, color corrections, cropping and resizing images, sharpening and file saving. Our presenter, Kevin Doxstater, has been using Adobe Photoshop both personally and professionally for over 10 years and is experienced on both Windows and MacIntosh platforms. On the five days a week that he's unable to be out in the field making nature photographs, Kevin is the Digital Services Manager for one of Central Florida's most advanced photo labs, producing fine art digital photographic or inkjet prints. A CD with step-by-step guides to the techniques discussed is included with registration.
